The result is an explosive, tension-filled album that is one of the best of the band’s quarter-century career. I have to say that Mikey and Ben also came into full Mikey-and-Ben formation when we were writing this, he says. They just got interested in big dirty, grimy riffs again, which is really exciting for me as someone who loves to write rock songs among other kinds of songs.

Brandon Boyd and boys’ eighth album continues a progression away from the breakdowns and record-scratches of their early years and towards something closer to stadium-baiting modern rock in the mould of, say, Train. Indeed, there’s even the faint whiff of the Sheeran on a few of the big ballads here

Incubus guitarist Michael Einziger was a guest on the Beats 1 radio show Request (audio below) discussing the forthcoming record from Incubus, which was produced by Dave Sardy. But not as well known is that Moore ended up lending his production skills to the disc as well. It’s an interesting co-production situation where we were very close to being finished with our album," the guitarist began. Einziger continued, "And we ended up going through the entire album. So he ended up co-producing most of the songs-or at least a bunch of the songs and mixing all of the songs. And it came out sounding really exciting to u.

Yeah! I’m serious, I just bought a new copy couple months ago and nothing wrong with it
For real?? an alternate No Fun. What You Talkin Bout Willis?
I had 2 copies of this vinyl. Both were FILTHY. After a nice cleaning they played well, except one had like a pressure pinhole on side B that skipped on playback. Otherwise, it played well. The whole Skrillex thing did this album a disservice in my opinion. The bass is too much and is too overpowering and takes away from the music overall.
The Sphinx of Driz
Was very disappointed with this pressing. Sound was atrocious. When I looked at the vinyl under a light it looked like it had been under a truck tire. Amazingly it had no surface noise but was clipping because of excessive bass frequency. Content itself? Great album. Incubus music deserved better treatment than this.
My copy does not sound right at all! I couldn't make it past 2 songs. Anyone else have issues?
Yes. It's the mix itself. Skrillex mixed the drums as if it were an EDM album, brought the drums WAY out in front and compressed the hell out of them, ruining the album in the process. Someone forgot to tell Skrillex that rock drums don't work the same way EDM does. I don't know who's idea it was to have Skrillex mix anything on this record, but that was one HUGE mistake. When there are many skilled mixing engineers available, why did they choose him -- a guy who's never mixed a rock album before in his life? A desperate attempt by the label to make Incubus "cool" again by association with a big name EDM star? He single-handedly ruined this record. Shame because there's some great songs on this album. This album should've never left the mastering studio. It should've been sent back and mixed by a REAL mixing engineer.
